Why It's Worth the Stop
BamaHenge is a surprisingly faithful full-scale replica of England’s Stonehenge, set against the open Alabama sky, and it rewards visitors with a genuinely awe-inspiring photo opportunity you would never expect to find in the rural South.
The replica was built in 2010 by local artist Mark Cline, the same Virginia folk artist responsible for several other quirky American replicas, and it was commissioned to draw attention to the nearby Barber Marina development, giving it a wonderfully odd origin story that matches its spectacle.
