Accessibility

Beach driving requires a standard passenger vehicle or higher clearance; soft sand sections may be difficult for low-clearance vehicles. No paved paths on the beach. Restrooms and boardwalk facilities are available at the main park entrance. Visitors with mobility limitations can enjoy views from the parking areas and boardwalks near the marsh.

Why It's Worth the Stop

Sea Rim State Park offers one of the few places in Texas where visitors can legally drive their vehicles directly onto a Gulf Coast beach, turning a typical park visit into a genuine wide-open adventure. The park spans over 15,000 acres of barrier island beach and marsh, making the drive feel genuinely remote and untamed.

The beach driving area stretches roughly 5.2 miles of Gulf shoreline, and the park also protects one of the largest expanses of coastal marshland in Texas, giving drivers a rare front-row seat to shorebird colonies, alligators, and migrating waterfowl all from their vehicle windows.
